Originally military, Warszawa-Modlin Airport (IATA: WMI, ICAO: EPMO) is now the second, after Chopin Airport (EPWA), civil aerodrome for the area of Warsaw and Mazovia Region. Until recently used mainly by general aviation , now the airport is ready to handle low cost and charter air carriers. At the present stage EPMO has undergone a complete refurbishment – sections of runway were reconstructed, taxiways and apron were also renewed. A new passenger terminal has been erected, navigational lights as well as radio-navigation aids are now in place. Since July 2012 Wizz Air and Ryanair are regular carriers operating at the airport.
EPMO has one runway (2500 x 45 m), with 12 stands for aircraft A, B, C ICAO Code (up to Airbus A320, Boeing 737 or equal in size). VOR and RNAV GNSS approaches are available for both runway directions, ILS for WRY 08, under radar vectoring. Due to the same Control Terminal Area, used by EPWA and EPMO, both airports are radar controlled by Warsaw Approach.
